Calhoun Neighborhood School to host welding camp for ladies


DECATUR, Ala. — Calhoun Neighborhood School, in partnership with the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, will host its annual SWeETy Welding Camp on June 15-17.

The camp’s purpose is to coach 10 excessive school-age ladies with electrical and welding abilities, a commerce typically dominated by males. The camp begins every day at 7:45 a.m. and goes to 1:30 p.m. within the Superior Expertise Heart at Calhoun’s Decatur campus.

“Many younger ladies are focused on welding and technical fields, however don’t have a possibility to increase their information in that space at college,” stated Calhoun Twin Enrollment Director Gwen Baker. “SWeETy camp is right for these younger women, because it helps increase their information in a subject that has been seen for a few years as non-traditional for ladies.”

The camp goals at educating ninth by twelfth grade ladies the required abilities to reach a high-paying profession in high-growth industries, like welding and electrical expertise.
